Basic Approach

Respecting the rights of each individual, and aspiring to be a company where individuals can pursue a meaningful and fulfilling cultural life, our management philosophy starts out with the pledge to make HDSI a company that supports self-motivated efforts of each individual, provides a workplace that brings out the best of our employees' capabilities through their work, and rewards ability and achievement.
Based on this management philosophy, we not only ensure that the working conditions of our employees comply with laws and ordinances but also strive to institutionalize practices that support employee skill development and create a workplace conducive to fruitful labor.

Management Philosophy Booklet


Everyone who works at HDSI receives a booklet stating our management philosophy, Charter of Corporate Behavior, Code of Conduct, Risk Management: Code of Conduct in a Crisis, and other matters, which they are required to carry with them.
Regular training sessions for each workplace are held to make sure employees fully understand these and put them into practice, instilling them in their consciousness.

Job rotation

A job rotation system is implemented actively as a means of invigorating the workplace and, by giving people experience in different kinds of jobs, letting each individual employee demonstrate new capabilities.

Reemployment after retirement

Our retirement age is defined as the age of 65 and employees can select the way of working after the age of 60 by working as full-time or part-time.

Supporting graduate school study, MBA and MOT programs

As one aspect of career formation, employees who volunteer and are approved by the company can attend a graduate school master's or doctoral program, Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Management of Technology (MOT) programs.

Overseas training

For the sake of developing human resources with global experience, employees who volunteer and are approved by the company are sent to work at Group companies outside Japan (the United States, Germany, or China). Through their work experience, employees can improve their communication skills, including a more diverse sense of values as well as language ability. This overseas training program also develops human resources able to carry out their work in a broad range of areas.

Correspondence course training

Under this program, the company pays for the cost of correspondence courses taken by employees in order to gain broader knowledge and education.

Creating a Workplace Conducive to Fruitful Labor

Recognizing that industrial safety and health are the foundation on which a company exists and is a major responsibility to society, HDSI carries out initiatives for preventing industrial accidents in advance as part of our business activities. We also take various steps to improve the working environment to ensure the health, safety, and productivity of employees.

Employee safety and health

Mental and physical health consulting is offered once a month by industrial physicians. This service is open to all employees who wish to take advantage of it.

Training in fire fighting

Under the direction of a Safety and Health Committee made up of employees, regular fire-fighting drills, practice in emergency life-saving techniques, and safe driving lessons are offered to help maintain preparedness for accidents and disasters.
Other measures taken to maintain employee safety and health include the installation of automated external defibrillators (AED) at each company location and providing financial assistance for flu shots.

Self-declaration system

Respecting the ambitions and rights of employees, a self-declaration system is in place enabling them to express their own wishes regarding their future career path and skills development directly to the Executive Officer for Personnel.

Generous childcare and long-term care support programs

To enable employees to balance childcare or long-term care needs with work, childcare leave is provided until the child reaches the age of 2 years 8 weeks, and long-term care leave is provided for up to a total of one year per person in the affected family. In this way the company offers childcare and long-term care support programs beyond the legal requirements.

Refreshment leaves

As a reward for their contributions, employees who have been in the company for at least five years are granted seven consecutive days of refreshment leave in the fiscal years of their 40th, 50th, and 59th birthdays, separate from the annual paid vacation time.

Special paid leave

In preparation for special needs, employees may accumulate up to 50 days of unused paid vacation time and apply it to time off for such uses as childcare, long-term care, nursing care, or their own recovery from injuries and illness.

Mentoring program

In the mentoring program, experienced employees act as mentors giving one-on-one support to new employees (mentees), providing support for their work concerns and advice on behavior as an adult member of society.

Flexible working system

Research and development are one of the foundations on which our company operates. A flexible working system is introduced in some of the R&D divisions in order to foster a free research environment.
